We will address, from the perspective of the College of Engineers, what is the importance of triggering the professionalization of the sector, as well as linking technical certainty with residential, commercial, industrial, public and private projects, programs and users for the development of the solar sector.

David Contreras,
President of the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers of the State of Jalisco (CIMEJ)

Since 2013, the user has accumulated extensive experience in renewable energy and energy efficiency. From August 2015 to October 2018, they worked at the National Commission for the Efficient Use of Energy in Mexico City, coordinating the “Solar Heat Program in the Services Sector” and managing social networks, calculations, and installation supervision. In May 2019, they joined Sunnergy Energías Renovables as a Project Manager, coordinating engineering activities and supervising more than 1,200 distributors.

Since February 2021, they have been the Treasurer of the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers of the State of Jalisco, A.C., and Secretary of the Energy Commission. In February 2023, they assumed the presidency of the 27th Board of Directors of the same association and represent the Western section in the Federation of Colleges of Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic Engineers, and related branches of the Mexican Republic, A.C. They are the founder of Corporativo Distrito Energía and an ambassador of the international movement Heat Changers.

Marisol Oropeza,
Consultant at matters, founder of Heat Changers, Marketing & PR Intersolar Mexico

Business and marketing strategist specialized in the solar thermal market at matters , based in Berlin. She holds a Degree in Business Administration from the UNAM and a Master in European Studies from the Hochschule Bremen in Germany. She completed an exchange semester at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin, studied International Cooperation for Sustainable Development at the Technische Universtität Kaiserslautern, and is a graduate of the altMBA programme on leadership and business management of the American Seth Godin. She has worked in the public and private sectors in Mexico and Germany and has 15 years of experience in the solar thermal sector. She has advised major European companies and organizations and lead international projects such as the Heat Changers and the Solar Heating Initiative. She is Secretary for International Affairs of the ANES and works for Intersolar Mexico since 2019.
