Energy efficiency and renewable energy are fundamental pillars for achieving a more sustainable, secure and resilient energy system. Accelerating the adoption of energy efficiency measures in Mexico is no longer an option, but an urgent necessity to reduce emissions, optimize resources, and increase competitiveness. This session will highlight programs and projects that demonstrate how a better interaction between energy efficiency and the integration of renewables can amplify their impact on the energy transition.

Ana María is a Chemical Engineer graduated from the Instituto Tecnológico de Chihuahua, with a master's degree in environmental science and engineering from Harvard University. She has over 30 years of experience in areas such as air quality, transportation, waste management, climate change, energy, technology transfer, and carbon markets. She was the General Director of Air Quality Management and Emission and Pollutant Transfer Registry at SEMARNAT for 9 years, where she was responsible for the implementation of the Montreal Protocol in Mexico. She has consulted for various international organizations such as the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), North American Development Bank (NADB), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), World Bank, and GIZ Mexico, among others. Her projects focus on achieving the commitments of the Paris Agreement, Montreal Protocol, Net Zero, and ESG for Latin America and the Caribbean. Currently, she collaborates with several State Energy Agencies at a national level and is Vice President of the Mexican Association of Energy Management Companies and co-founder of the "Women in Energy Network."

A physicist engineer specialized in energy, graduated from the Institute of Optical Communication Research at the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí. He complemented his education with studies in Power Units at the University of Nottingham, England, and Finance at Austral University, Argentina. He has taught renewable energy courses at the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí and is a Level III Thermographer certified by the Infrared Training Center in Stockholm, Sweden. In addition, he has international forum experience, notably representing the Americas at the event 'Smart Energy For A Better World' (Krakow, Poland). He also received training in Gas-Insulated Substations with Schneider in Regensburg, Germany. Currently, he serves as Director of the Energy Services Business for the Americas at ACCIONA, leading projects that promote sustainability and innovation in the energy sector. Furthermore, he presides over the Mexican Association of Energy Efficiency Companies (AMENEER), from where he drives initiatives to strengthen energy efficiency and foster the transition towards a more sustainable future.

Engineer in renewable energy by the Technological University of the Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara (UTZMG) with more than 9 years of experience in the solar thermal sector and energy efficiency. Passionate and lover of solar thermal energy applied in all sectors, as well as the linking and professionalization of the sector. In 2019 he was appointed Mexico Ambassador of the international Heat Changers movement and is co-host of the HeatChangers Podcast in Spanish, where he promotes knowledge and energy transition through the application of solar thermal technology. He is currently President of the XXVII Board of Directors of the Colegio de Ingenieros Mecánicos y Electricistas del Estado de Jalisco and Founder of Corporativo Distrito Energía, his venture.
