"Nelson R. Delgado Contreras is a highly experienced specialist in the Mexican electricity sector. Since April 2021, he has served as the General Director of the Mexican Solar Energy Association (ASOLMEX).
Previously, he held key roles at the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) as Deputy Director General of Wholesale Electricity Market Surveillance, and at the Ministry of Energy (SENER) as Director General of Electricity Generation and Transmission, and Deputy Director General of Generation Programs.
His significant contributions include developing Mexico's Electricity Sector Development Programs (PRODESEN), designing SENER's first tender for private transmission lines, and setting requirements for Clean Energy Certificates (CELs).
Mr. Delgado Contreras holds a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering from UNAM and a Master's in Financial Optimization. He received the Gabino Barreda Medal in 2000 for academic excellence. His career highlights his pivotal role in implementing and developing the Wholesale Electricity Market and modeling the National Electric System.
