Officially presented the fifth edition of Intersolar Mexico, to be held from September 3 to 5, at Centro Citibanamex, Mexico City.

Press Release – Friday, August 23, 2024

Mexico City, August 23, 2024 - Intersolar Mexico, the pioneering event in the solar industry, will be held for the fifth time from September 3–5, 2024 at Centro Citibanamex, Mexico City. Focused on photovoltaic, solar thermal and electrical energy storage technologies, Intersolar Mexico has established itself as the leading platform for technology trends and B2B networking in the Mexican solar market.

The official presentation of this event was attended by prominent industry leaders: Matilde Saldivar; Show Director of Informa Markets; Marisol Oropeza, Spokesperson for Intersolar Mexico and founder of Heat Changers; Andrea Lozano, President of the Mexican Association of Qualified Suppliers and member of Women in Renewable Energy Mexico (MERM); Daniel García, President of the Mexican Association of Renewable Energy Manufacturers (FAMERAC); and Karla Cedano, Academic of the Institute of Renewable Energies of the UNAM (IER-UNAM), Advisor of Voz Experta and Former President of the National Association of Solar Energy (ANES).

According to Matilde Saldivar, Intersolar Mexico will once again be held simultaneously with The GREEN Expo® and Aquatech Mexico, co-located events that make up the largest gathering of renewable energy and clean technology industry professionals in Mexico.

"More than 400 national and international companies from more than 20 countries will present a wide range of solutions for the industrial, commercial and government sectors with the purpose of making their processes more efficient and contributing to the achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals," Saldivar informed.

She also indicated that this year Intersolar Mexico will be joined by another event of The smarter E, ess (electrical energy storage), Europe's largest exhibition for batteries and energy storage systems with 10 years of experience. The exhibition floor will have a special area for companies in the industry and the content program includes the most relevant topics in electrical energy storage.

In her speech, Marisol Oropeza presented Intersolar Mexico's content program, which is characterized by its high quality, diversity, timeliness, relevance, practical application and level of audience satisfaction. The program focuses on four thematic areas: photovoltaic, solar thermal, electrical energy storage and cross-cutting issues.

The International Conference, to be held on September 3 and 4, will feature 18 sessions with the participation of 36 speakers with an equal participation of experts, responding to the gender equity demanded by the sector. International speakers include David Wedepohl, General Director for International Affairs of the German Solar Energy Association (BSW), Brad Heavner, Policy Director of the California Solar and Storage Association (CALSAA), USA. The closing panel will focus on public policies for solar energy in Mexico with the participation of public sector leaders from Mexico City and Nuevo León, as well as the private sector.

While at the Intersolar Stage, visitors will have the opportunity to receive training through technical workshops on the safety of photovoltaic systems, in addition to obtaining first-hand information during free lectures by exhibiting companies and organizations in the solar sector in which they will present the latest advances in solar energy, products and services. Special networking sessions will be held daily in the same area.

Andrea Lozano stressed that Mexico is going through a strategic moment for the industry, thanks to its enormous solar potential, its geographical position and an average irradiation significantly higher than countries such as Germany. "It is a priority to foster entrepreneurship and solar startups because they are key to the creation of new solutions in the market. In this sense, Intersolar Mexico plays a fundamental role in preparing the solar talent of tomorrow," he said.

Karla Cedano highlighted the need to take advantage of distributed photovoltaic and solar thermal generation as an economic and social driver, mainly for the benefit of the most energy-constrained communities. "Mexico requires a more sustainable, renewable and inclusive economic, political and governance structure," she added. She also highlighted Intersolar Mexico's link between solar market issues, social inclusion and gender.

Daniel García referred to the great potential of the solar thermal industry in Mexico and the importance of promoting a clean and sustainable energy matrix to achieve the Net Zero goals. "Currently 174 countries have renewable energy objectives in the electricity sector, but only 46 have an objective in the renewable generation of thermal energy," he noted.

FAMERAC's President highlighted that solar thermal heat represents 25.6% of the world's installed capacity of modern renewable energies and that Mexico has 4.2 GWth of solar thermal distributed generation from solar water heaters. "Mexico is among the top 10 countries that install solar collectors per year worldwide. We have great potential if public policies for solar, photovoltaic and thermal energy are developed," he said.
