Mexico City, May 23, 2025 – Intersolar Mexico, the leading event for the solar industry, will be held for the sixth time from September 2 to 4, 2025, at Centro Banamex, Mexico City.
With a focus on photovoltaic, solar thermal, and energy storage technologies, Intersolar Mexico has become the top B2B platform for solar market trends and business networking in the country.
Ahead of its 6th edition, the webinar “Cost Reduction in the Service Sector through Solar Thermal Energy” was held, featuring Marisol Oropeza, Representative for Intersolar Mexico, and David Contreras, President of the XXVII Board of the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers of the State of Jalisco (CIMEJ).
During her remarks, Oropeza emphasized that Intersolar Mexico will host a strong lineup of national and international companies showcasing a wide range of solutions aimed at helping industrial, commercial, and government sectors optimize their processes and meet their sustainability goals.
“As organizers, we are proud to once again present the Intersolar Mexico International Conference, a benchmark for the industry featuring expert-led panels and keynote presentations on key energy topics,” she noted.
At the Intersolar Stage, visitors will also have access to technical workshops and networking opportunities with exhibiting companies and solar industry organizations presenting the latest advancements, products, and services in solar energy.
David Contreras highlighted that the service sector accounts for over 60% of Mexico’s GDP and represents 17.35% of the energy consumed in buildings. “Any disruption in energy supply—thermal or electrical—can be highly problematic. For instance, a hospital without electricity can endanger patients, and a restaurant without power cannot operate. This sector’s electricity demand accounts for 36.07% of its total energy demand, whereas 32.3% is for LP gas” he explained.
According to Contreras, energy expenses can represent 20% to 30% of operational costs in the service sector. “We need to carry out energy diagnostics for businesses in this sector—where they are located, their consumption habits, and service profiles—to identify their specific energy needs and implement efficiency strategies that can cut demand by 10% to 30%,” he added.
He underscored the advantages of solar thermal energy systems, which have very short amortization periods, citing a success case involving 12 hospitals under Mexico City’s Health Department where 660 solar collectors were installed, resulting in savings of more than 4.5 million pesos and a return on investment of less than 3 years.
“Solar and solar thermal energy are no longer just alternatives—they have become core components of business strategies that help the service sector decarbonize while significantly reducing operating costs,” Contreras concluded.
In this context, Intersolar Mexico will serve as a strategic meeting point to connect communities and foster collaboration among academia, government, and society, supporting the energy transition, exploring global solar market trends, and preparing for the industry’s future challenges.
