Dr Jorge Marcial Islas Samperio is a physicist and holds a Master's degree in Energy Engineering from UNAM, as well as a PhD in Energy Economics from the University of Grenoble in France. He is a C-grade Senior Researcher at UNAM and holds Level II status in the National System of Researchers. His work has focused on the energy transition, renewable energy, climate change mitigation and the sustainable use of bioenergy. He has published 50 scientific articles, 5 books, 18 book chapters and 19 intellectual property registrations, and has led 28 research projects. He currently serves as Under-Secretary for Planning and Energy Transition at the Ministry of Energy.

In this context, solar energy and electrical storage are emerging as key technologies to strengthen industrial competitiveness and meet rising electricity demand. This panel will bring together public sector representatives and industry leaders to discuss how northern Mexican states are creating new opportunities for energy development, investment attraction, and the integration of solar and storage solutions across strategic sectors of the Mexican economy.
