PhD in Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources from the UAEMéx, specialist in Gender, Violence and Public Policy from the same university and Master in Marketing Management from the UdeG. She completed a postdoctoral stay at UC Berkeley. She is a level 1 member of the National System of Researchers. She was director of Red Acción Ambiente A.C., has been a consultant for the German Development Cooperation, and worked at the General Directorate of Energy Development and Sustainability of Mexico City. She is currently a researcher at the Institute of Social Research of the UNAM, professor at the Faculty of Engineering-UAEMéx, treasurer of the National Association of Solar Energy and member of Voz Experta.

A graduate of the University of Puerto Rico (PR), Mayagüez (1992), he holds a Master's degree in Engineering Management from the Polytechnic University of PR (1996). He founded AZ Engineering (www.azeng.net) in 2000, offering consulting and design services in residential, commercial and industrial electrical engineering. He is NABCEP certified, and leads the solar industry in PR with more than 425 renewable energy projects. He currently teaches courses in design and installation of photovoltaic systems in PR, the Caribbean and Latin American countries. Graduated in Industrial Engineering at ITESO, in Guadalajara; he was in charge of Public Lighting in the municipality of Zapopan, Jalisco, where he initiated an energy saving programme. He was Project Manager for the company Menchaca y Asociados, winner of the National Energy Saving Award for the Santiago Ixcuintla, Nayarit lighting project. He developed diagnoses and energy efficiency projects in lighting for more than 30 municipalities in Nuevo León, Querétaro, Nayarit, Zacatecas, and Jalisco. He managed the administrative area of an electrical infrastructure construction company and was an independent consultant in energy efficiency and clean generation. Since 2019 he is Executive Director of the Mexican Photovoltaic Industry Association.
